CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Dates:
Tuesday evening July 12 - Sunday afternoon July 17, 2005 (schedule TBA)

Location:
At Trinity Commons
2230 Euclid Avenue

Faculty:
This year's all Ohio faculty features writer/teachers from four North East Ohio Universities: poets, fiction and creative-non fiction writers, and for the first time a playwright. It's time to recognize the strong community of Ohio writers and to join in and learn from some of the best at this year's IMAGINATION.

  • Bex Brian (Fiction, Scriptwriting)
  • Dan Chaon (Fiction)
  • Wanda Coleman (Poetry, Fiction)
  • Karen Joy Fowler (Fiction)
  • Karen Kovacik (Poetry, Fiction)
  • Brett Neveu (Playwriting)
  • Charles Siebert (Non-fiction, Fiction)
  • Sarah Willis (Fiction)

Visiting Lecturers will include:

  • Harvey Pekar (Graphic Novel, author of American Splendor)
  • Heidi Aungst (Freelance Non-fiction Book)

Location:
Created in 2002 as an environmentally-friendly renovation of Trinity Cathedral, the turn-of –the-century English Perpendicular Gothic home and headquarters of Ohio’s Episcopal Diocese, Trinity Commons includes seminar rooms and conference facilities, a reading room, an art gallery, shops, and Café Ah-Roma.

The Commons has earned awards and acclaim from those concerned with urban revitalization, sustainable building practices, and historical preservation. It won the Cleveland Engineering Society's Excellence in Renovation Award and was a finalist for the Northern Ohio Live Award of Achievement in neighborhood revitalization. It is directly across the street from the CSU Main Classroom Building, and there is ample free parking off Prospect Street behind Trinity Commons.

(The annual IMAGINATION Workshop and Conference has been made possible through generous support of individual donors, and through a CSU Presidential Initiative grant supported by the Cleveland Foundation and the Gund Foundation.)
