Safety Tips

Opportunity theft is the most frequently occurring crime on campus. Leaving books, purses, and other property unattended - even for a few seconds - provides the thief with a golden opportunity to take your valuables. For your own protection, keep your property under your control at all times.

By being alert at all times, you can help keep our campus secure for everyone. Follow these tips:

  • Always be aware of people around you
  • Alert someone to your presence on campus after hours
  • Buddy up - try not to be alone after hours
  • Use well-lit public walkways
  • Keep doors locked
  • Lock your car and keep all valuables hidden
  • Check e-mail for campus alerts
  • Know the locations of telephones and campus emergency phones
  • Report suspicious activities by strangers
  • Call for a Safety Escort
