Building Security

Patrols

Security OfficersThe University Police Department places a strong emphasis on the protection of persons and property as well as the security of physical facilities. Police Officers, Security Officers, and Student Community Service Officers all play a role in round-the-clock patrol of University buildings. Unauthorized persons in buildings are identified, removed and prosecuted as necessary. Both exterior and interior security checks of facilities are maintained. The operating condition of all locks and security hardware is monitored with every check and malfunctioning equipment is pinpointed immediately for repair.

Residence Halls

The residence halls have controlled access through an electronic building security system which utilizes magnetically locked perimeter doors that are released automatically in the event of a fire. The main doors, which are monitored 24 hours a day by student personnel, are the only means of entrance and egress. Access to residence halls is restricted to student occupants, escorted guests, and authorized personnel.
