African American juvenile male on bicycle wearing dark shorts and no shirt seen with a group of seven to 10 African American juvenile males on bicycles |

As an added precaution, University officials are reminding the campus community about practices that can increase personal safety and help deter crime. Walk with bag straps secured around your body. Stay alert, be aware of your surroundings and use well-lit public walkways. When possible, walk with a friend and avoid cell phone use when traveling.
