Second Lap Workshops

Second Lap is a new series of workshops designed to help second year AHANA Program students navigate through their second year here at Cleveland State University. The workshops will cover a variety of topics that are specific to a student's second year experience, including choosing a major, studying abroad, and resume building. The workshops will also address specific strategies and changes that students can implement to make their second year a success.

Schedule 2010 - 2011: Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. - Main Classroom 103

Getting Connected: Involvement and Leadership Opportunities - This session will cover the different opportunities available on campus and steps you need to take to get connected. Wednesday, Sept. 22nd

Pack Your Bags! Studying Abroad - This session is designed especially for students who might be, or already are, interested in studying abroad. Hear about places to go, and the things you need to plan and do to get there. Wednesday, Oct. 13th

Marketing Yourself - The importance of presenting your experiences and accomplishments increases as you get closer to graduation. Learn some key tips for resume writing designed specifically for second-year students. Wednesday, Nov. 10th

Beating Academic Probation/Dismissal - During this session, participants will be reacquainted with CSU policies concerning academic probation/dismissal and strategies to overcome various barriers that may lead second year students to enter academic probation/dismissal. Wednesday, Feb. 9th

Making "Major" Decisions - Having trouble deciding on a major? At this session, explore common barriers second year students encounter when choosing a major. Alum and upper class students will share their experiences, decision making strategies, and relevant resources to help you move forward with choosing a major. Wednesday, Mar. 9th
