Building recognition for Cleveland State University is critical for gaining community support, alumni activity and donor interest, as well as attracting the highest quality students, faculty and staff. This is accomplished by determining the right messages for target audiences, and developing the best marketing objectives, strategies and vehicles to communicate effectively.
University Marketing is Cleveland State's in-house agency for marketing and communications. The group is structured as an advertising or public relations firm, emphasizing account service, graphic design, production and photography. The department prepares and implements strategic promotional plans, special events, marketing programs, multi-media presentations and advertising campaigns. Account representatives and graphic designers work in teams to develop the products, programs and materials that support the mission and objectives.
The department acts as a liaison between the University and the media, generating news releases and media advisories. Press conferences and receptions are staged for significant events. Media planning and strategy ensure the most effective and efficient means of publicizing the correct message at the proper time within a defined budget.
As the University's marketing and publications resource, the department produces a variety of printed materials, including brochures and other promotional materials. The department also prepares web and other electronic publications and takes a creative lead in the design of official pages of the University web site.
