International Study and Company Tour

Program Description

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about Germany culture and business practices. On this study tour, students will visit renowned companies such as Voith, Siemens, Zeiss and BMW to gain insight from some of Europe’s most successful businesses. Company visits will be complemented by lectures at Berufsakademie Heidenheim (University of Cooperative Education) to give students further background in the European business environment. Interactions with German students will allow of intercultural exchange. Finally, students will enjoy sightseeing tours to gain a better understanding of the historical and modern Germany. Students of International Business and other majors are encouraged to apply.

Tours and Visits

Students will have an exceptional opportunity through this international study and company tour program to visit various world renowned companies in Heidenheim, Munich, and Berlin.

Sightseeing tours in these cities will also be organized as part of the program.

In Berlin, tours will include the German parliament and other historic sites of a once divided nation. There students will go on a city tour visiting Potsdamer Platz, Check Point Charley, the Holocaust monument, Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Dom, and Deutscher Dom.

Academic Eligibility

Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.0 and graduate GPA of 3.0.

There are no German language skills required to participate in the program.

All applications must be approved by the program director and the Study Abroad office.

Program Cost

The approximate cost for this program is $1800 plus 3 credit hours CSU tuition for the field study course.

The program cost includes roundtrip airfare, lodging, breakfast, local transportation and an International Student Identity Card. The cost does not include CSU tuition for the required course. The cost may change due to increases in airfare and/or the exchange rate of the Euro.

Students should budget about $500 out of pocket expenses for lunch, dinner, souvenirs and any independent activities.

Students may use Spring financial aid to pay for the program cost. Students can also apply for two scholarships: the CSU Study Abroad Scholarship and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs scholarship. For more information, contact the study abroad office.

Monday            Visit to Voith Paper Technology, attend after noon seminar

Tuesday           Visit Carl Zeiss AG, Oberkochen, leave for Munich

Wednesday     Visit Siemens AG, Tour of Munich and group dinner at Hofbrau House

Thursday          BMW Munich plant visit;leave for Berlin

Friday                Visit Gallup, castle and Potsdam Tour

Saturday          Tour of Berlin, Reichstag

Sunday             Depart Berlin for Cleveland

Application

A $200 non-refundable deposit along with the program application is due by no later than November 21, 2008 to confirm your participation.

Do I need a visa?

If you are not a United States citizen (even if you are a Permanent Resident), you may need a visa to enter Germany. Go to the German Consulate website to find out if you need a short term tourist visa to enter Germany.
