CSU in China

Comparative and International Education
SUMMER SEMESTER, June 13 – 22, 2009

Program Overview

The Center for Educational Leadership, partnering with the Confucius Institute, invites you on this exciting program in international comparative education.

Program participants will experience Chinese culture and education firsthand through school visits, city tours, and interaction with graduate students at Capital University of Business and Economics in Beijing.

The majority of the program will be spent in Beijing, the political, cultural, and educational center of China. The group will take tours within Beijing to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, as well as a day long tour outside the city to the Great Wall of China.

Participants will also be part of a three day International Comparative Education Conference.

Academic Program

Students are required to participate or enroll in the 3 credit Graduate course EDB 609: Comparative and International Education.

All participants will meet three times as a group before their departure. Dates for these pre-departure meetings are tentatively scheduled for January 31, March 28, and May 23.

All students will participate actively in the three day International Education Comparative Conference and are required to produce a paper comparing education in China and the United States, an analysis of one course reading in light of the student’s firsthand observations, and a reflection journal. All enrolled students will create a group photo-documentary website of Chinese education.

Academic Eligibility

Graduate students should be in good standing at the University, with at least a 3.0 GPA.

All applications are screened by the Office of Judicial Affairs for violations of the Student Conduct Code.

Applicants must be approved by the program directors and the Study Abroad office.
