What is the International Student Population at CSU?

Over 800 International students from over 80 different countries are currently enrolled at Cleveland State University. The countries with the largest enrollment are India, China, Taiwan and Korea.

Do you have an ESL Program?

CSU offers an intensive ESL Program that serves both undergraduate and graduate students for who English is not their first language. It consists of placement evaluation and courses. The program aims to improve student English skills and prepare them for academia. For further information visit ESL program website.

Does CSU offer temporary housing for newly arriving students?

CSU offers temporary housing for upto 5 nights at approximately $25 per night; however a form must be filled out and faxed to CISP at leat 2 business days prior your arrival. How do I apply for on-campus housing?

To apply for on-campus housing visit the following link: www.csuohio.edu/services/reslife.OR Fax the duly filled International Student Arrival Information Form, which is mailed to you with the welcome letter to 216-687-3965. OR Email : intadvisor@csuohio.edu.

How do I find off-campus housing?

How do I find a roomate?

If you plan to reside off-campus you can contact International Student Services who may be able to assist you. Visit following link for more information click here. In case of on-campus housing if you do not request a specific roomate, you will be assigned a roomate(s) based upon the information you provide on your housing application. How do I get a Student Visa?

After CISP issues you Form I-20 or Form DS 2019, you need to present it at the US Consulate or Embassy http://usembassy.state.gov/. You must also present the original financial documents and your letter of admission. Before going to the US Embassy or Consulate you must pay the SEVIS fee by going to http://www.fmjfee.com.

Is there an orientation for International Students?

The International Student Orientation is Mandatory. It is scheduled about 2 weeks before the first day of classes.

When do I register for the classes?

You can register for the classes after you check-in with the International Center(Main Classroom, Room 106) at Cleveland State University after your arrival.

Where do I have to pay the tuition fee?

You can pay your tution fee at Treasury Services located in the 1st floor of the Main Classroom Building . More Information about fee payment will be given during orientation and Check-in.

How do I open a bank account?

There are many banks located in the downtown area which are very close to Cleveland State. Click here to access the list. You do n ot need a Social Security Number to open a bank account.

What is the weather like in Cleveland, Ohio?

During the summer, June through September, the weather is often hot and humid and requires lightweight clothing. The temperature ranges from 70 degrees Fahrenheit?(21 degrees Celsius) to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit(above 32 degrees Clesius).

The winter season, late November through March is marked by sudden and extreme weather changes; several days of cold weather may be followed by days of moderate temperatures. The range in winter is between 20 degrees Fahrenheit(-7 degrees Celsius) to 45 degrees Fahrenheit(7 degree Celsius), and ocassionally the temperature drops to zero(-18 degrees Celsius).
