What is the admission process?
Once all of your application materials and application fee have been received, the international graduate admissions office will review your application and forward your application materials to your proposed graduate program for a decision.
Who makes the decision on my application?
Your requested graduate program makes the final admission and financial aid decisions. The Center for International Services and Programs will send you a letter notifying you of your graduate program's decision.
My application has been sent for review. What does this mean?
This means that the Admissions Office received your completed application. At this time your application file has been sent to the Graduate Committee of your requested program for an admission decision.
When will I know my admission decision?
After your graduate program has made an admission decision, the program informs the International Graduate Admissions Office. We then give the admission letter and acceptable financial documents to the International Services staff to issue the I-20.
After I am admitted, when will I receive my visa documents?
The International Services staff will review your financial documentation to determine whether you have sufficient funding. If your documents pass financial review, then we issue the form I-20 or DS-2019. If your documents do not pass the financial review, then we shall send you a letter or email asking for additional proof of funding.
How do I update my admission decision?
If you are unable to attend the semester you were admitted into, you have the option of deferring your admission to the next available semester. Please contact the department you were admitted to and contact the International Graduate Admissions Office via email appstatus@csuohio.edu. We will not be able to issue a new I-20 until a new letter has been received from the department.
I received a letter saying that my bank statement was unacceptable. What kind of bank statement should I send?
The bank statement must be in English. It must specify the type of currency such as "U.S." dollars or another currency. If you have a sponsor, the bank statement must show a balance of at least the financial verification requirements for one year of your program. The bank statement must be on official bank letterhead, dated within the last year and be signed or stamped by a bank official.
How can I get F-2 visas for my spouse and children to accompany me to the United States?
If you send evidence of adequate funding for your dependents as stated in the Financial Verification Requirements section, then we will create dependent I-20 forms for your family. The U.S. Embassy will issue F-2 visas to your spouse and children if you present dependent I-20 forms and proof of financial support for your family.
I want my spouse to accompany me to the United States. What should I do?
If you send evidence of adequate funding for your dependents as stated in the Financial Verification Requirements section, then we will issue a dependent I-20 for your spouse and/or children.
