When inviting an Exchange Visitor there are a number of issues which need to be taken into account. Following are required to be shown in order to invite an Exchange Visitor:
1. Qualifications of the Exchange Visitor
This is shown by submitting a copy of the individuals CV or Resume to show they have the background to fulfill the activities.
2. Language Capabilities
How have you assessed that the language capabilities are sufficient to invite this person. The inviting person needs to make a statement to the effect this person has strong enough language or show proof of the person's language competency.
3. Financial Verification
Each Exchange Visitor must be able to show that they have a minimum of $1500 per month. This can be shown by Bank Statements, Letters of support of the visitor's government, company or institution. If someone is supplying the individual with room and board a letter to that effect should also accompany the exchange visitor request.
Housing $900 per month.
Food $300 per month.
Health Insurance $117 per month.
Misc (clothing, transportation, entertainment) $200-300 per month
If they are bringing a spouse they would need to show an additional $300 per month and $250 per month for each child.
4. Medical Insurance
You are REQUIRED to have medical insurance in effect for yourself and any dependents in J-visa status for the duration of your program. Some sponsors provide the required insurance for their participants. Other sponsors may allow you to make your own arrangements or may help to identify insurance carriers. Consult with your responsible officer before the start of your program.

(1) medical benefits of at least $50,000 per person per accident or illness; (2) repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500; and (3) expenses associated with medical evacuation in the amount of $10,000 .
(b) Additional Terms - A policy secured to fulfill the insurance requirements shall not have a deductible that exceeds $500 per accident or illness, and must meet other standars specified in the regulations.
(c) Maintenance of Insurance - Willful failure on your part to maintain the required insurance will result in the termination of your exchange program.
