Application Process
Testing, Interviewing and Referral for Classified Positions
Upon receipt of the application
- Applications are screened for meeting minimum qualifications.
- Reference forms are sent to previous employers.
- Qualified applicants are contacted by letter or by phone to schedule testing appointments.
- Applicants must present a picture ID.
- Written examinations and skills tests are often applicable for more than one job classification.
- Successful completion of keyboard tests (if applicable) is followed by an interview.
- Written test scores are posted on Human Resources’ job board (Keith Building, 13th floor). Applicants are notified of test score by letter.
- Top ten applicants are referred to hiring department.
- Hiring department arranges interviews and selects the applicant for hire.
- Human Resources Representative makes offer of employment.
- Applicants interviewed by hiring department who are not selected are notified in writing and remain on an “eligibility list” for future vacancies.
- All qualified applicants remain on eligibility list for one year.
- One hundred twenty (120) day probationary period must be successfully completed. (one year probation for University Law Enforcement Officers).
