A large majority Cleveland State University students seek full-time professional opportunities that provide a starting salary, and are typically not interested in commission based or self-employment opportunities. As a result, we strongly encourage employers to list only salaried opportunities through the csucareerline.com system, On Campus Recruiting Program and Career Fairs.
If an employer chooses to list a non-salaried opportunity, we require that they clearly indicate in the job description that compensation is commission based and/or self-employment in nature. Employers listing such opportunities through this program must include an accurate statement to this regard, such as “All agents hired for this opportunity will be self-employed, and compensation for this position is 100% Commission based.”
On a related note, we are unable to include opportunities from any employer that requires a student to make any financial investment, such as purchase a sales kit, a background credit check, pre-employment testing, or to pay for a training class, as a condition of employment or during the initial stages of their employment.
Employers who have questions concerning these guidelines are encouraged to call the Career Services Center at 216.687.2233.
