Salary Information

"What do you think you're worth?" Companies usually have a general range in mind when hiring for a specific position and are usually prepared to go to the top end of the range for a truly outstanding candidate. The challenge is to demonstrate that your accomplishments and background entitle you to the high end of the range. Be sure to consider the complete compensation package (salary, benefits, and perks) in order to determine how "good" the offer is.

Before accepting the job offer, consider these following questions:

  • Is the compensation package high enough to cover your basic monthly expenses?
  • Is the compensation package competitive with what other companies in this field are paying for similar work?
  • How do the benefits compare to the income you're currently earning or were earning in your last job?
  • Does the benefits package give you adequate health coverage, based on your current needs? What percentage of the benefits package will you be expected to pay for in the event you're hired?
  • How generous and attractive are the perks (vacation, sick time, tuition reimbursement, etc.)?
