Several organizational changes have been made in furtherance of the retention of CSU's best students and the recruitment of more and better prepared students. In Fall 2007, the institution moved towards viewing Academic Affairs and Student Affairs as a unified matrix of related services rather than separate entities. This has led to the merger of Student Affairs with the Provost's Office, with the result that the Provost now provides leadership in delivering services that focus on the whole student experience, both in and outside the classroom. This change also creates exciting new possibilities for innovation in how the institution integrates faculty, staff and student roles that lead to superior teaching and learning environments on campus.
