Under the coordination of the Director of the General Education Program and with assistance from the Office of Student Learning Assessment, teams of General Education faculty will engage in a peer-driven assessment mapping activity during the Fall semester of 2008. The emphasis will be on two skills areas addressed in the various General Education classes. To this effect, course syllabi (on record) will be analyzed in an attempt to outline the correlation among goals/objectives, student learning outcomes, instructional strategies and resources, and assessment of student learning.
Findings will be shared with the rest of the General Education program so that any necessary changes in pedagogy and/or assessment tools and strategies could be made in a way that enhances student learning in the two skill areas under focus.
The same peer-driven assessment mapping activity will be conducted for the remaining skill areas addressed in the General Education program by reviewing relevant course syllabi.
Findings will be shared with the rest of the General Education program so that any necessary changes in pedagogy and/or assessment tools and strategies could be made in a way that enhances student learning in the two skill areas under focus.
Concurrently, program-based discussions will involve all stakeholders in formalizing an assessment plan and timeline designed to monitor the progress of students to be implemented in the academic year 2009-2010.
