Sept. 02, 2014

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we begin the new academic year, we have good news to celebrate.

Last week, the University finalized a collaborative partnership with the University of Haifa, a public research institution on the coast of northern Israel. Cleveland State and the University of Haifa have much in common: We are both engaged urban universities serving a diverse student body and largely contributing to the vitality of our local economy. As the University of Haifa's partner, Cleveland State will seek incredible learning experiences for our students to study abroad, as well as ways for our faculty to engage and collaborate with peers in Israel.

I also note that Cleveland State University has for the fourth time been named by NorthCoast 99 as one of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio, recognizing our commitment to attracting and retaining talented employees. Several faculty and staff were interviewed about what makes this campus such a unique and energizing workplace. I wholeheartedly agree with their comments, and consider it a privilege to serve at Cleveland State, a diverse, dynamic community in the heart of downtown Cleveland.

I look forward to celebrating with you at the upcoming 50th Anniversary Block Party on September 19. For now, best wishes for Fall Semester.

Sincerely,

Ronald M. Berkman

President
