Cleveland State University, in partnership with Parker Hannifin Corporation, will dedicate two new buildings on the CSU campus, Parker Hannifin Hall and Parker Hannifin Administration Center. The dedication ceremony will take place at Parker Hannifin Hall, 2258 Euclid Avenue, on Thursday, October 30 at 4:00 p.m.
The event will recognize a 2005 donation of $4 million from the Parker Hannifin Foundation to Cleveland State, of which $3 million was directed toward an endowment fund for undergraduate and graduate student scholarships in CSU’s Fenn College of Engineering and $1 million was directed toward building improvements. In recognition of the investment, the two new buildings are being named in honor of Parker Hannifin Corporation. The $4 million gift is the largest corporate endowment the University has ever received and the largest gift ever made by the Parker Hannifin Foundation.
Parker Chairman, CEO and President Don Washkewicz is a 1972 graduate of CSU’s Fenn College of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University in 2002 and an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree in 2004.
“It’s exciting to see the beautiful new buildings,” commented Washkewicz. “We are proud to partner with Cleveland State and other universities to provide educational opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow.”
CSU President Michael Schwartz added, “Our friends at Parker Hannifin have done a tremendous job of helping us help our students and the community we serve. Their generosity, led by our alumnus Don Washkewicz, is responsible not only for the new buildings that adorn our campus and bear the Parker Hannifin name, but also for laboratories in our College of Engineering and scholarships for deserving students. Parker Hannifin has played a leadership role in making CSU what it is today.”
