Join CSU President Michael Schwartz, CSU Board of Trustees Chairman Ronald Weinberg, CSU Provost Mary Jane Saunders, other CSU dignitaries, and representatives from Gwathmey Siegel and Associates Architects and other participating organizations as ground is broken for the new Student Center building. The ceremony will signal the official kickoff of construction of the latest gem on the CSU campus which will open in spring 2010.
The unique 138,000-square-foot structure will be the main entrance to the social and academic centers of the University. Housed within the new structure will be the University Bookstore, a pub, dining facilities, computer lounge, game room, Student Life Department and offices for student organizations, and conference meeting spaces on three stories around a central, four-story atrium.
The Student Center is registered with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and the goal is to develop a LEED Silver Certification for the completed building.
