Students to Explore the Hot Careers of the 21st Century
at Cleveland State on October 3

Cleveland State University’s Career Services Center will present Exciting Careers in the 21st Century, an up-close, interactive engagement that allows college-motivated students to explore an exciting lineup of new careers that suit their interests and talents. Students will take part in real-world demonstrations of technology and innovations from more than 40 leading companies in northeast Ohio.

The event takes place on Friday, October 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Physical Education Building (Woodling Gym), located at 2451 Euclid Avenue. More than 500 students are expected. The event is ideal for students in grades 7-12, college students, parents and anyone interested in discovering the careers of the future.

Exciting Careers addresses Cleveland’s so-called “brain drain” from the perspective of changing brain drain to brain gain by positively impacting the success of future business, jobs creation and infrastructure improvements in Northeast Ohio while fostering retention of the region’s best and brightest students.

By showcasing the latest technology and innovations from leading organizations in Northeast Ohio, high school, community college and four-year college students throughout the area can discover what it takes to be part of the new technologies that will help them prepare and make informed career decisions about their future.

On-site demonstrations will feature hot majors and career fields: CSI forensics, engineering, manufacturing, software design and development, video gaming, 3-D visualizations, biotechnology, medical imaging, digital communications and more. Participating organizations include:

  • International Women's Aerospace Museum

Highlights include inventions and applied research demonstrations from Cleveland State’s accomplished faculty. Student teams will compete in Nintendo Wii and Guitar Hero games for prizes.
