Adaptive Physical Education Clinic Celebretes 30 Years

WHAT:           Cleveland State University’s College of Education and Human Services’ 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Adapted Physical Education Laboratory/Clinic

*Special Recognition and Award Presentation to a 30 year Volunteer

WHEN:           Monday, February 25, 2008
                        6:00 until 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:         Cleveland State University
                        Mather Mansion First Floor
                        2605 Euclid Avenue

WHY:              The Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Adapted Physical Education Laboratory/Clinic that serves families with children and young adults who have a broad range of disabilities. Each semester the laboratory/clinic provides participants with movement and aquatic programs that meet their unique needs. It also provides physical education and special education majors with training to assist them in providing the best possible programs for their students once they become licensed teachers.

On this occasion ten families will be honored for their more than 10 years of participation and loyalty to the program.

*A 30 year volunteer that is an adapted aquatics specialist to the program and Cleveland State alum will be presented with the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created at President Bush’s direction by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

PROGRAM AGENDA:                     
6:00 p.m.                     Introductions of Guests and Special Attendees

6:15 p.m.                     Recognition of Families with 10 or more years of participation in the
laboratory/clinic

6:45 p.m.                     *Special Recognition and Award Presentation to a 30 year Volunteer

7:00 p.m.                     Keynote Address:

“APE laboratories and what they have meant to families with children with disabilities and the pre-service teachers who work with them.”

This event coincides with the 40 year celebration of the College of Education and Human Services commitment to engaged learning.
