Adam Wolfe wins the 2005 Kerope Zildjian Concert Percussion Scholarship


Zildjian, maker of is proud to announce that Adam Wolfe, an upcoming senior percussion performance major and a student of Matthew Bassett and Tom Freer, is the winner of the new 2005 Kerope Zildjian Concert Percussion Scholarship. Adam will receive a $2,500 scholarship toward his tuition at Cleveland State, as well as an all-expense-paid trip to Zildjian's world headquarters in Norwell, MA, to tour the factory and select cymbals and Malletech mallets.

College undergraduate percussionists worldwide participated in the competition. Neil Grover, of the Boston Pops, and Keith Aleo, representing Zildjian, reviewed all materials and recordings for the first round of applicants. Eight finalists were selected and presented, without identification, to Will Hudgins, of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, who judged each solely on playing ability, and chose Adam's CD as the winner!

Zildjian's commitment and dedication to percussion education and student advancement is exemplified in this newly established scholarship in memory of Kerope Zildjian who founded the company in Constantinople, Turkey, in the late 19th Century.
