Q: What are the computer lab's hours?
A: The monitored hours will vary from semester to semester. Until students have passed MUS 112 they will need to attend the lab during monitored hours. After passing the course, they will have free swipe card access to the MIDI lab from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Students will pay a fee for the swipe card, and possibly a lab fee.
Q: What kinds of computers are used in the lab?
A: Apple E-Macs running OS-X.
Q: What programs are on the computers in the lab?
A: Sibelius (composition), Logic (sequencing), Aurelia (ear training), Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver (web design).
Q: Can I save my work in the lab?
A: Students will, upon logging in for the first time, be given a workspace on the server on which they can save information. They can access the server from any station in the lab, and thus will be able to go to one of the "burner" stations when they are ready and save their information. Also, the use of USB "jump drives" will be possible. These drives cost as little as $20 apiece, and can store large amounts of data for transfer between computers.
Q: May I burn my work or compositions on a CD?
A: stations in the lab are equipped with DVD/CD burners.
