Department of Music

FAQs: Applying for Entrance to the Department of Music

Q: When is the application deadline?
A: Department of Music application and audition results are reviewed and admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis throughout the year. Since awards for music talent scholarships and graduate asssistantships, stipends and tuition waivers are determined in late March prior to enrollment at Cleveland State, you should plan to audition before March 15th.

Q: May I transfer to the Department of Music from another school or college within Cleveland State University?
A: Yes! Students of other Cleveland State colleges or programs are welcome to audition for admission to the Department of Music. Contact Alexandra Vago for more information.

Q: I am applying as a transfer candidate. How many of my credits will transfer?
A: After you matriculate, an evaluation of your transcripts will be completed to determine which coursework will transfer. For more information about this process, consult the Transfer Guides section of the University website.

Q: I have just been accepted into the Department of Music. When may I register for classes?
A: After matriculating, in-coming freshman and transfer music majors should schedule an appointment with William Lovell, Administrative Assistant, for their initial advising session for music course selection. Subsequently they should meet with an advisor in The Advising Center to determine non-music coursework.
