Dr. Valli Sarveswaran received his Ph.D. in Synthetic Organometallic Chemistry from Cambridge University, England and his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Among his credentials are the following:

Ashley Poklar M.Ed.

Education: Ashley completed her B.S. in Special Education at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC in May of 2007. She taught in alternative school settings for three years before returning to school for her Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which she obtained in May of 2013 from Cleveland State University. Ashley is currently pursuing her PhD in Counseling Psychology.

Activities: When not chasing her three small children around the house, Ashley is the chair of the mentor committee for Student Affiliates of Seventeen (the Counseling Psychology section of American Psychological Association-APA) as well as a student committee member of the Advocacy Committee housed in the Association of Child and Adolescent Counseling, a section of the American Counseling Association. Ashley was a South Carolina Teaching Fellow in her Undergraduate Studies and a member of various honors societies for both her undergraduate and Master’s level studies.

Future Plans: Ashley hopes to become a licensed psychologist and work with forensic youth populations. Ashley also plans to create a leadership program for individuals working with “at risk” youth to provide more effective support, treatment, and education to these youth.

Carlia Wilkinson

Education: Carlia Wilkinson recently graduated with honors and earned her Bachelors of Social Work from Cleveland State University in fall of 2013. She is currently in the Social Work Joint Master Program at Cleveland State University with University of Akron and hope to continue her education to earn her doctorate degree in adult development and aging.

Activities: Carlia is an active member in her church, The Word Church. She also is a member of the National association of Social Work Student Club on campus at Cleveland State University. Whenever she is not working or in school she enjoys being home with her son and teaching him new things. Carlia also enjoys working out whenever she finds free time and loves shopping and hanging out with friends.

Future Plans: Ms. Wilkinson plans to attend a doctorate program at Cleveland State University after receiving her Masters in Social Work. Her long time goals are to work as a clinical social worker or a family counselor. She plans to be involved in developing, organizing, managing, shaping, and planning social polices related to families and children.  One day she hopes to inspire others and motivate them for lifetime changes, whether it’s through treatment programs, counseling, therapy sessions, education, mentoring, and so forth.

Profile: Monique graduated from CSU with a B.S in Environmental Sciences (Spring 2014) and is a McNair alumnus. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Sciences degree at CSU. After completion of her master’s degree, she will pursue a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences. Her goal is to use her knowledge of the environment and human health to make sure products that people use on their skin are not harmful to their health. She enjoys learning about various skincare and makeup products.
