The field of mechanical engineering is broad and
comprehensive, providing a graduate of the program a maximum of
adaptability to the changing technological developments and needs of
modern society. Mechanical engineering encompasses the fields of
aeronautics, aerospace, power generation, energy conversion and
conservation, transportation, manufacturing, product design, robotics and
controls, and also overlaps other branches of engineering.

BS/MS Accelerated Program in ME is now available (Fall, 2007)
Obtaining your BS and MS degrees normally takes six years. Now you can have both degrees in only five years. To join the program, your cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or better upon completing your junior year of undergraduate study. Stop by the department office to inquire about the details.
A New Graduate Course For Spring 2008
The department is pleased to introduce a new course, MCE593 Special Topics: Electronic Packaging Techniques. There has been a strong demand from sensor industry for electronic packaging, especially micro-system packaging. However, no university or research organization in Ohio has an electronic packaging facility. Recently, CSU was funded to build a state-of-the-art Electronic Packaging and Testing Facility near campus. The main objective is to teach the students the fundamental packaging techniques that include design for packaging, design for reliability, thermal management and others. The classes will be held in SH 267, MW 2-3:50 PM. For more information, please contact the instructor, Dr. Paul Lin.
