Learning Communities are a new approach to traditional learning - All with YOU in mind.
Whether your interests lie in Business or the Arts, Science or Liberal Studies, Learning Communities are a place for you to explore your interests and connect you with other students, faculty and community members who are pursuing those same areas.
Cleveland State University offers two distinct Learning Community Programs to meet your needs. The CSU Learning Communities are designed for incoming Freshmen who would like a fun and interactive transition to the CSU main campus. The Cleveland Transfer Connection provides students with more options when enrolling as a Freshmen by partnering with Cuyahoga Community College to truly make the City our classroom.
Students report that their first-year experiences in a Learning Community provided structure and an organized, supportive way to begin University life. Instructors, staff and Peer Mentor Coaches assist students, helping them to get organized for success, manage time and resources, develop study skills, and navigate around this large urban campus.
Classes in the Learning Communities are small and arranged in clusters based on a theme of your choice. Smaller classes allow you to have more access to faculty and increase opportunities for active engagement with the course content. Professors provide learning experiences beyond the classroom walls through co-curricular activities such as guest presentations, special projects and visits to many of Cleveland’s area landmarks. Many courses in Learning Communities satisfy General Education requirements as you are introduced to other subjects required for your major and graduation plans.
