CSU student wins a National Scholarship for 2010

CSU Junior Spanish major (Education minor) Rosa Orta Cruz won a Gilman Scholarship for Education Abroad in spring 2010. Rosa is studying at the Univerisdad de Salamanca in Spain through ISA (International Studies Abroad). The maximum allowable scholarship amount awarded by Gilman is $5,000 per semester.

Rosa left Cleveland in early January for four months of intensive study alongside local Spaniards at the Univerisdad de Salamanca which is located in central Spain. A native speaker of Spanish, Rosa hopes to use her time abroad to learn gain insight into the education system of Spain. Upon her return to CSU, Rosa plans to visit local elementary schools in her West side neighborhood to share her experiences.
