Academic Advising

Undergraduate Advising:

Academic advising at Cleveland State University is a critical part of the student experience, designed to provide you with on-going support and assistance for as long as you are an undergraduate student.  Cleveland State offers advising assistance through specific programs, college advising offices, and major/program advising.

Identifying your academic advisor at Cleveland State is easy!  Check your “Success Network” in Starfish to identify your assigned academic advisor.  To log into Starfish, use the following instructions:

  • Log into CampusNet from the CSU main web page
  • In your CampusNet student tab, click on the blue Starfish link
  • Once logged into Starfish, check your “My Success Network” for your assigned advisor

You can schedule an appointment with your assigned advisor by clicking on your advisor’s name or on the “see available appointments” link just below the advisor’s name.

We strongly encourage you to develop and maintain an on-going relationship with your academic advisor to ensure that you receive all of the support and assistance that you need to achieve your academic goals and maintain progress towards degree completion and graduation.

Graduate Advising:

Graduate advising is conducted by a Faculty Advisor in the department which houses the program of study. Review the CSU Online Catalog for more information on the coursework required of your academic program.  Once you have arrived on campus, check-in with the CISP International staff, and meet with your advisor. You will then have access to register online.

  • Monte Ahuja College of Business MBA & Graduate Programs Office: is happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your academic plan.  This office is located on the 3rd floor of the College of Business Building, Room 327.
  • College of Education: You can expect to receive a faculty advisor assignment around the mid-point of your admit term. You can seek advising from the Education Student Services Center (ESSC), Julka Hall (JH), Room 170, until you receive a faculty advisor.  You must be registered for courses appropriate to your program area before you will receive an advisor assignment.  If you have an advisor preference, please come to the ESSC, JH 170, and complete an Advisor Change Request form.  This form must be approved and signed by the faculty advisor of your choice and returned to the ESSC for processing.

We strongly encourage you to develop and maintain an on-going relationship with your academic advisor to ensure that you receive all of the support and assistance that you need to achieve your academic goals and maintain progress towards degree completion and graduation.
