Health Insurance : FAQ
Do I have to purchase CSU health insurance? All international students are required to carry health insurance while attending Cleveland State University. You will be billed for the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan, unless you demonstrate that you have comparable health insurance and specifically waive coverage. Waivers of CSU insurance are limited to: students sponsored by the U.S. Government, their home country, or a non- governmental organization, students who have coverage through a parent's work, a spouse's work , or their work, and students presently insured with a U.S. health insurance company receiving benefits due to an ongoing illness or accident. How do I waive the health insurance fee? To waive CSU insurance and avoid your account being charged, you must:
You will be automatically billed for CSU health insurance upon registration unless you turn in a health insurance verification form. (F-1 and J-1 students). If you are on OPT (not registered for classes) and want the student health insurance, you must come to the international office and sign up for the insurance or fill the OPT enrollment form. Will I have an insurance card? A health insurance card will be mailed to you from chickering group. How do I know what the insurance covers? You will receive an insurance brochure in the mail.
