Residential Information

The residential fee for this session is $357 and covers room and board.

Supervision/Staff Descriptions:

Student participants will be supervised by the Summer Honors Institute director, instructors, student mentors, and residential staff 24 hours a day. They will be escorted to all destinations both on and off campus. The policies, procedures, and codes of conduct for the Institute will be accessible online and will be distributed to students during their orientation. These are the guidelines and rules that students must follow in order to participate and if they are not strictly followed, students will be dismissed from the Institute.

Residential staff will live in the residence hall with the students for the entire session. The Residential Advisor Lauren Davis, Cleveland State University Residence Life staff members, and male and female student mentors will live among the students who will be separated into rooms by gender. Staff members will enforce the rules and guidelines as well as organize activities and recreation time.

Arrival Information:

Students who choose the residential option will live in Viking Hall. They will move in on Sunday, July 12th and participate in evening ice breakers and a residential orientation to include safety and security education. Participants will arise each morning for breakfast at 7:00 am and will be escorted to their respective course sessions. Once formal instruction is over each day, students will be escorted back to the residence hall for dinner and evening programming to include recreation, guest speakers, a movie, and informal social time. We will end each evening with a reflection on the day’s events and students must be in their rooms by 11:00 pm.

Financial Aid Information:

Students may apply for residential financial aid if they:

  • qualify to receive free or reduced-cost school lunches;
  • receive public assistance, or whose legal guardians receive public assistance
