Success in Math

Choose Ohio 1st Scholarship Program

Cleveland State University offers scholarships for incoming first year students who plan to pursue a major in one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) disciplines. The scholarships begin in the fall semester and cover the academic year. They are renewable each year for students who remain in good standing in the program until the end of spring semester. Preference will be given to students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The goal of the program is to increase the number of students who graduate with a STEM degree. Success in STEM majors requires a relatively high level of mathematics preparation. Choose Ohio First Scholars will enroll in some of their classes as part of the Choose Ohio First Scholars cohort. The Choose Ohio First Scholars will attend colloquia with speakers from STEM fields in industry and academia five times per semester. Choose Ohio First Scholars will have access to supplemental instruction, tutoring and other resources to assist them in completing their STEM degree. Scholarship awards are available for up to $4,700 toward the cost of tuition based on financial need.
