Tuition:
The Honors Program Scholarship covers full tuition, but enrollment for more than 16 credit hours requires a scholarship adjustment. Students who have received permission to enroll for more than 16 credit hours must inform the Honors Program Scholarship Coordinator before the start of the term. The Coordinator will then make the appropriate adjustments to the scholarship account. The Honors Program Scholarship Coordinator can be reached by calling (216) 687-2075 or by emailing a.coburn@csuohio.edu.
Outside scholarships or grants designated to cover tuition will cause the Honors Program Scholarship to be reduced accordingly. Please note that receipt of the Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG) will reduce an Honors Program Scholarship.
Academic Fees:
The Honors Program Scholarship covers all academic fees associated with courses in which a recipient is enrolled. This includes lab and technology fees. Additionally, the UPASS fee and the University’s one-time new-student orientation fee are covered. The orientation fee is reimbursed during the first semester of enrollment. Fees, such as parking fees, the I-20 for international students and health fees are not covered.
Residence Hall:
Honors Program Scholarship recipients who choose to live on campus in Fenn Tower or Viking Hall are assigned to live on the floor designated for Honors Program students, based on availability.
If you have a parent who works for Cleveland State University, a Staff Dependent Fee Authorization Form should be completed no later than six weeks before the start of classes.
For more information about on-campus housing or to apply for on-campus housing, please visit the Residence Life Website.
Books:
All required and recommended textbooks available from the CSU bookstore are covered by the Honors Program Scholarship. The Cleveland State University bookstore is provided a list of eligible recipients two weeks prior to the start of each semester. Eligible students must show their CSU ID and semester schedule, when picking up text books.
If a professor is selling a text book directly to the class, please purchase the book and present the receipt to the Honors Program Scholarship Coordinator. A check for reimbursement will then be issued to you by the Office of Treasury Services.
Supplies, including calculators, are not covered.
Additional Financial Aid Resources:
If you have not yet filed a FAFSA for the upcoming academic year, please do so immediately. If you qualify, additional aid may be available to assist in covering your educational and/or housing expenses.
If you are offered Federal Work Study, you may earn your Federal Work Study award by obtaining on-campus employment or by working off-campus at a designated community service agency.
Award Letter:
Each student is mailed an award letter indicating the scholarship amount awarded. If eligible for any additional grants or loans, as determined by review of the FAFSA, these amounts are also listed on the Award Letter.
You can find more information describing the various loan programs on your award letter and at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You are under no obligation to accept any loans. To decline any of the aid offered, cross off the aid declined and initial the change. If you wish to accept your student or parent loans, please follow the directions provided in the award letter.
The award letter must be signed and returned to the Financial Aid Office.
Other Aid:
Students often receive financial support from agencies outside of Cleveland State University, including reimbursement assistance, scholarships, and athletic aid. In order to maintain compliance with Federal, NCAA, or specific donor criteria, the Honors Program Scholarship, Federal Aid, or University Aid may be adjusted, when these outside funds become known to the Financial Aid Office.
Outside scholarship checks should be mailed directly to the CSU Financial Aid Office, attention Honors Program Scholarship Coordinator. Scholarship checks are deposited to the student’s account. Unless otherwise designated, all scholarships are equally distributed over a period of two semesters.
Billing:
Approximately six weeks before the beginning of the semester, the Office of Treasury Services sends an invoice detailing charges for the semester. Please note that scholarships and other aid will not appear on your invoice. Referring to your award letter, if you determine that a balance is owed for room and board charges, please make the proper payment arrangements after your Residence Hall Grant has paid out. If you are charged for additional credit hours or lab fees, please let the Honors Program Scholarship Coordinator know, so that your scholarship can be adjusted accordingly.
Disbursement:
All Financial Aid, including scholarships, will disburse no earlier than ten days prior to the start of the semester. Loan disbursement schedules may vary, please refer to your loan information for more details. If a refund is due, a check is mailed by the Office of Treasury Services, during the first week of classes.
