Social Activities
  • Graduation Banquet
This annual event, held during the end of each spring semester, offers graduating students in the Mandel Honors College an opportunity to be recognized in front of their families for their accomplishments. 
  • Ice Cream Social 
Mandel Honors College students are invited to an Ice Cream Social at the beginning of Fall semester each year. The Honors College provides ice cream and students bring their favorite toppings!
  • Cookies and Cocoa
Mandel Honors College students are invited to a Cookies and Cocoa event at the beginning of Spring semester each year. The Honors College provides a little warmth during Cleveland’s cold winter months!
  • Sporting events
Mandel Honors College students are invited to enjoy a day together when attending one of the Cleveland’s sporting events. Students have a chance to attend Indians, Browns, Cavaliers and Lake Erie Monsters games for free or a minimal fee.  The students can build community and have fun watching these sports teams in action.
  • Volunteer opportunities
Mandel Honors College students have various opportunities to volunteer. Students can sign up for a Viking Expeditions trip or take the Service Learning honors experience class offered every semester. 
  • Student Organizations
Mandel Honors College students are involved in a variety of student organizations; from honor societies to Greek life, students in the Honors College find ways to become part of the many communities on campus !
 
Workshops
  • Cleveland Clinic Foundation Workshops
The Honors Program invites honors and scholars students interested in applying for the Undergraduate Research Experience at the Cleveland Clinic to attend an informational session once a semester. Cleveland Clinic Research application materials are available and Dean. Leaflet goes over application procedures, provides additional information, and answers questions for interested students. 
  • Upper Division Honors Workshop 
The Honors Program invites all students interested in applying to the Upper Division Honors Program to a workshop in fall semester. CSU students are invited as well as interested students from Lorain Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Lakeland Community College. The Honors Program application materials are available and Dean Lehfeldt goes over the application procedures and answers questions.
  • Graduate School Workshop 
The Honors Program invites honors and scholars students to a workshop focused around graduate school. The goal is for students to learn if grad school is right for them, to see which grad programs fit their future career goals, and to learn how to apply to graduate school.  Dean Lehfeldt is on hand to answer questions. Several other CSU administrators are also invited to speak to students; these include representatives from Cleveland Marshall College of Law, Graduate Studies, and Pre Professional programs.
  • Goldwater Scholarship Workshop 
The Honors Program invites honors and scholars students to an informational session in fall semester on applying to the Goldwater Scholarship Program.  Dean Lehfeldt provides student with more information about the scholarship and walks them through the application procedure.
