Admission Requirements

Freshman applicants must be in the top 10 precent of their high school graduating class. This can be demonstrated in one of several ways:

  • Top 10 percent in class rank;
  • High school GPA of 3.5 or better;
  • 90th percentile on ACT exam, approximate score of 27 or greater;
  • 90th percentile on SAT exam, critical reading and math combined score of 1300 or greater;
  • special appeal to the program.

Transfer students can also apply to the program if they have fewer than 90 credit hours and can demonstrate that they can complete the Upper Division requirements for their major. A minimum cumulative 3.35 GPA from previous college-level work is required.

How to Apply?

Incoming freshman will meet with a Scholars advisor to register for their first semester of courses as a Scholar. Transfer students who meet the requirements for the University Scholars program will be informed as such when thier transcript is evaluated. They can then meet with a Scholars advisor to register for coursework.

Application to the University Scholars Program is separate from application to Cleveland State University. To apply to the University Scholars Program simply download the University Scholars application form. You will need Adobe Reader 4.0 or higher, which is available here.
