About the Program

Director's Greeting

Welcome to the Honors Program at Cleveland State University! The Honors Program and its sister program, University Scholars, offer a supportive and challenging academic environment for high-achieving students. CSU’s Honors and University Scholars Programs provide a unique opportunity to pursue any of the university’s majors in the heart of the city. This allows us to offer unparalleled networking, internship, and research opportunities. In the CSU Honors Program you will have access to the wide range of cultural, research, business, and community institutions.

Students in our programs enjoy many benefits and privileges. These can include:

  • Access to small, specially designed general education classes with top faculty
  • Opportunities to complete honors versions of any academic major
  • Priority registration
  • Special honors advising
  • Extended library borrowing privileges
  • Access to substantial merit-based scholarships

Students also become members of the Honors community, which includes the opportunity to live on the Honors and Scholars floor in Fenn Tower, to make use of the Honors student lounge, to participate in extra-curricular activities with other high-achieving students, and to interact with and learn from Honors alumni.

Our goal is to make sure that our students have an exceptional experience that goes beyond the typical undergraduate education. In addition to work in your major we hope that internships, research opportunities, study abroad, community service, and exploring new academic areas, will enhance your time at CSU. When you graduate from the CSU Honors Program you will have a signature degree that has prepared you for graduate and professional programs and meaningful employment.

If you are interested in this kind of stimulating academic environment, I encourage you to find out more about our programs by exploring our web page and by contacting us directly to arrange a conversation or a visit.
