MARIO RODLAND'S HOMEPAGE

My name is Mario A. Rodland, I am from Nassau, Bahamas. I am a student at Boston University, majoring in International Trade and Finance. My hobbies are rugby and travelling. I am one of sixteen students studying at The Japan Center For Michigan Universities this year.

We are all from different universities throughout the U.S, and all come from different backgrounds. There are students here from the United States, Canada, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea and (last but by no means least) the Bahamas.

We are all studying Japanese this year, some students in first year, and others in second and third year. We have all worked together to create a Web page for people to link to in order to find out information about Japan and, especially, about Shiga Prefecture. I have decided to write on Japanese gardens and Ikebana (flower arranging).

So far I have spent about four months in Japan, travelling and learning Japanese and about Japan's culture. Japan is a wonderful country, with more history than most western civilizations. The reason I came to Japan was to learn Japanese, to study Japan's economic system, and to learn why the Japanese were more successful than any other industralized nation.
