GSA Potluck

Students created a “string of thanks,” pictured above, during a bountiful Thanksgiving Potluck filled with friends, music, dance and laughter.

On November 18, 2016, the Graduate Student Association and the Center for International Services & Programs hosted an International Thanksgiving Potluck.  The Roberta Steinbacher Atrium in the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs was filled with music and laughter during the holiday celebration.

A team of volunteers from the Center for International Services & Programs and Graduate Student Association organized the event.  Students and staff brought a dish to share or a canned food item for the Lift Up Vikes!  food drive.  Turkey and all the trimmings were added to the assortment of local and international dishes prepared by students. International Friendships Inc. and Global Intervarsity also prepared many traditional Thanksgiving dishes for the students and staff in attendance.

Along with the bountiful feast, other festivities of the evening included dancing to music from around the globe and the “string of thanks” activity that allowed students to think about and post a message describing what makes them feel most grateful.  The “string of thanks” now hangs in the Graduate Student Resource Center, Parker Hannifin Hall #300.

International Friendships Inc. and Global Intervarsity are local organizations that participate in on- and off-campus programming for international students from various universities in the Cleveland area.  Lift Up Vikes! is a resource center and food pantry available to all CSU students.  For more information, visit Lift Up Vikes! in the Recreation Center, Room 168.
