Vice President of National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS), Joseph Verardo, recently announced that the NAGPS National Board of Directors selected Cleveland State University as host of the June 2017 National Leadership Summit and the Midwestern Colleges Regional Conference.  In selecting CSU, Verardo wrote, “Graduate and Professional Students of CSU will be aiding the national graduate student organization in expanding its network to students from across the U.S. and providing leadership and advocacy skills all attendees can apply at their institutions. We are excited that Cleveland State University will be the home to this year's summit.”

In their bid to host the conference, Graduate and Professional Student Association President, Erica Henkin, explained, “We have spent the past year and a half working to raise the visibility of the graduate student body on campus. Having the opportunity to host a conference for a national organization would add to the graduate student voice we are trying to build on campus. NAGPS has helped us to network with graduate students around the country and discover best practices for growing our organization. It would be our pleasure to give back to an organization that has helped us in ways that we thought were impossible, including connecting us with others who have had similar experiences and have been able to help us make a case for permanent funding to our administration.”

There are more than 20 universities within a 2-hour drive of Cleveland, making CSU an easy and affordable conference destination. Whether coming from across town or across the country, students can be housed right on campus, which is inexpensive and convenient. Cleveland State University is home to approximately 5,000 Graduate and Professional Students.  As host of this year's Summit and annual Conference, CSU students will have unique opportunities to network with graduate students from other schools and leverage tools to increase opportunities in graduate school and onward. All CSU students (graduate and undergraduate) are encouraged to attend.
