Non-Degree Admission

For Non-Degree graduate admission, the application deadline is ten business days prior to the start of the term. However, Non-Degree applicants are encouraged to apply well in advance of the deadline to avoid possible delays.

Follow these steps to apply for non-degree admission to the College of Graduate Studies:

    Complete the application for graduate admission

    You may complete an application using one of the following methods:

    Obtain proof of degree

    Non-degree applicants must provide proof of degree conferral before permission to register is granted. Any of the following documents are accepted as proof of degree:
      1. Official transcript with degree(s) posted
      2. Unofficial transcript with degree(s) posted (a photocopy of the official transcript or a document printed from the institution's on-line transcript system)
      3. State-issued teaching license

    Cleveland State University graduates do not need to submit proof of degree.

Non-degree applicants do not pay the application fee
    NOTE: Non-degree students who wish to enter a graduate degree, license or certificate program must re-apply, submit all required materials, and pay the $30.00 application fee.

Registration for Non-Degree Students

Not all programs accept non-degree students in their courses, and some courses are open to non-degree students only with permission from the program that offers the course. See the list of restricted courses .

You may obtain a permission form and have it signed by the program. The form must be processed by Campus411. Students who prefer to register on-line can request electronic permission from the program. See the list of programs for contact information for each graduate program.
