Welcome to the website of the College of Graduate Studies at Cleveland State University (CSU) --- home of the largest graduate and professional programs in Northeast Ohio. We offer a broad range of degree programs to meet the growing need for well-trained professionals and researchers in the region and across the globe. Students at CSU can choose from more than 80 graduate degrees, licensure and certificate programs, as well as our new accelerated 4 + 1 bachelor's/master's programs to prepare for successful careers. Our students also have the opportunity to interact with students and faculty with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds from other states in the US and over 20 different countries around the world. For students who have work, family, or other obligations, we offer on-line, evening, and weekend programs to meet their needs.
Cleveland State University features excellent faculty who are dedicated to both high quality teaching and cutting edge research. In 2011, seven CSU faculty members received the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award, the second highest among all universities in the country! A significant number of faculty research projects are funded by competitive external grants from industrial and business partners and funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Ohio Board of Regents. Many faculty members have published award-winning text books. In recognition of its excellence, the University was recently chosen to help manage the new White House Initiative on community and city development.
Cleveland State University is not only a center of excellence for academic explorations and scholarly endeavors, but is also a catalyst for Cleveland downtown revitalization and regional economic development. Through its $500 million Campus Master Plan, CSU has created a welcoming and stimulating environment and a vibrant city neighborhood for our students to study, explore, connect, and have fun. Recent additions to the CSU campus include a modern Student Center, a state-of-the-art recreation center, new student housing complexes, and the award-winning Julka Hall for the College of Education and Human Services.
With dedicated faculty, strong academic programs, and much enhanced infrastructure, CSU students enjoy the best of both worlds: the
personal attention at a small teaching college and the opportunities at a large research university; the comfort of a small town and the amenities in a large city; the experience in small classrooms/labs and the engaged learning using the society at large as a vast training ground. It’s not surprising that CSU students have been admired by their peers at other similar institutions for their success in winning academic competitions, passing professional licensure exams, and joining the workforce.
This is a great time to join CSU! With so many programs and so many choices, I understand it could be difficult for you to decide what program is most suitable for you. We are here to provide you with the information you need to make your decision, to help you complete the program of your choice, and to prepare you for a successful career.
