Dear Prospective Student,
Fenn Academy is structured to be a consortium between the Fenn College of Engineering and a group of high schools and local corporations. The mission of the academy is to attract high school students to various engineering fields by establishing high quality pre-engineering programs at member high schools, and a variety of educational programs at the affiliate schools to support those students with technical, and when possible, financial means throughout their entire educational experience, starting in high school, and progressing through their college years. A Fenn Academy Coordinator at a member or affiliate member high school will identify the eligible students who can participate in the Fenn Academy programs. From that point, students are given the moniker “Fenn Scholars”.
Cleveland State University’s Fenn College of Engineering is the higher education provider member of the academy. As a Fenn Scholar you are not obligated to attend Fenn College upon graduation from high school. However, if you choose to attend CSU’s Fenn College, you will benefit from a variety of programs and opportunities that will be available to you, such as the eligibility to participate in various scholarship programs, early cooperative education, and mentoring programs. Through a co-op program, sponsored by member corporations, you will learn first hand the practical aspects of your career.
As such, the academy will work as an economic engine, bringing in qualified students from high schools and financial support from local corporations, and providing high quality education from the Fenn College of Engineering to create unique opportunities that can be hardly found elsewhere. The product of this economic engine will be a greater number of highly educated, creative thinkers that will remain in the region and will provide the greatest opportunity for the region’s economic development. This economic engine will bring about collaborative and partnership efforts among some of the most important institutions in Northeast Ohio to produce a highly educated workforce that will be well-prepared, through a rigorous academic study and a world-class industrial apprenticeship, to serve the region and face any future challenges.
