Professor and Dean
College of Science
Dr. Bonder was named dean of the College of Science in July, 2007 after serving as interim dean for one year and associate dean for two years. She joined Cleveland State in 1989 as an associate professor and chair of health sciences. In 1994, she was promoted to professor. During her distinguished tenure with the University, she also has served as professor of psychology and graduate coordinator of health sciences.
What she likes about CSU: “Cleveland State is one of the most important institutions in this region and a major driver of economic success. It provides opportunity for people to might not otherwise have access to a college education — especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and returning adult students who are place-bound. We provide an essential service for students. Without CSU, local institutions, business and industry would have a very difficult time finding a well-qualified work force.”
Achievements: “My two boys — they’re lovely people. And I like to believe that some of my research and writing has had an impact on the way people practice occupational therapy. Many of my former students have gone on to outstanding careers and although I don’t take credit for their success, I like to think that I had some small influence.”
