Step 14: Technology

Technology is readily available and accessible for all CSU students. Each academic building has a general purpose computer lab for students to use. Laptops can be rented for free and all of the general purpose labs allow students to print for free! Students do not need to purchase their own computers.

Blackboard and eLearning

The Center for eLearning supports development of high quality online and blended programs and courses at Cleveland State University that expand opportunities for students to meet their educational goals. Classes that are offered online are run through the Blackboard system. Some classes may be completely run through Blackboard, while other classes offer the combined option in which there are face to face meetings along with assignments and interaction on Blackboard. To log-in to Blackboard, visit the following link: https://elearning.csuohio.edu/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct.

Mobile Campus is our free laptop loaner program located on the first floor of the Student Center. With a student ID card students can use a laptop for 4 hours and enjoy wireless internet and free printing. Why only 4 hours? That's how long the battery lasts. Students just need to exchange the laptop after that amount of time.

Wireless Campus

CSU is a wireless campus, the Mobile Campus laptops are already networked to the wireless signal and students can connect CSU's wireless signal to their personal computer. For more information contact the IS&T office at 216.687.5050.

Computer Labs

General Purpose Labs are located in Main Classroom 447/ 446, Stilwell Hall 128, Rhodes Tower – Library 403, Business 23, Fenn Tower first floor, and Urban 39/40. The Campus Connection Lounge is located on the first floor of Main Classroom and provides a less formal computer. Students will need their seven-digit CSU ID number and CampusPass (CampusNet password) to use a computer. At least one computer lab on campus is open everyday of the year.

PC Repair Shop

PC Repair ShopThe PC Repair Shop is available to repair student's personal computers for a discounted price. All technicians are CompTIA A+ certified. The PC Repair Shop is located in Stilwell Hall, room 128.

E-mail

Every CSU student is given an email account and a password upon being admitted. Faculty and administration send important information to student email accounts. Students are responsible for accessing their accounts regularly and can forward their email to a personal email account through CampusNet.

Printing

Each semester CSU students are allocated 2,000 pages of free black & white printing on the General Purpose Lab printers. After each semester, the print allocation is adjusted back to 2,000. Color printing is available in some labs.
