Incoming freshmen and transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships once they are admitted to Cleveland State. In some cases, individual scholarships will require a separate application. All students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Scholarships for new undergraduates at Cleveland State are awarded based on their high school GPA, class rank and standardized test scores. Community College transfer students scholarships are awarded based on their community college GPA. In certain instances, a specific scholarship is awarded when a student meets the eligibility criteria as indicated by the donor of the award. Cleveland State University reserves the right to alter scholarship eligibility criteria and award amounts based on available funding.
Students will be notified by the university of scholarship awards based on their meeting specific scholarship eligibility criteria at the time of admission. In late fall, students will receive notification from the Admissions Office inviting them to attend a scholarship competition whereby a student may qualify for additional merit awards
The following scholarships offer students award amounts that are equal to full tuition for four years:
Criteria: Competitive merit award to 75 new students (50 new freshmen and 25 junior year college students). Freshmen students must have a minimum 30 ACT composite score, or 1950 SAT total score or be ranked in the top 10% of their high school class. Junior year college students with a minimum college cumulative GPA of 3.5 who have taken a rigorous curriculum including in the major will be considered. Amount of Award: Full tuition and general fees and books. Additional scholarship may be available to off-set residence hall charges.

Our CSU Scholars Program award provides 150 students up to $4,000 in University tuition assistance from a variety of institutional funds per year for four years.
Criteria: Merit award for 150 full-time, new freshmen admitted to Cleveland State . Students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, minimum ACT composite score 23 or 1060 SAT total score (critical reading and math combined).
Amount of Award: Up to $1,500 per year for as many as four years if a 3.0 cumulative GPA is maintained.

Beginning Fall 2009, qualified students who are NOT residents of Ohio will be awarded the CSU Voyager Scholarship to help significantly reduce out-of-state tuition costs for up to 16 credit hours per semester. Awards will continue until available funding is exhausted. A separate scholarship application is not required.
Criteria: Admitted for Fall 2009 as a new incoming freshmen or students beginning classes Fall 2009 with no more than 30 credit hours, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and a minimum 21 ACT composite score or 980 SAT score (Critical Reading & Math). International students must meet the minimum equivalency of a 3.0 cumulative GPA, but are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Recipients must attend Cleveland State full-time.
Number of Scholarships: Based on available funding.
Amount of Scholarship: Up to $2712 per academic year ($1356/semester) for up to four consecutive years (8 semesters maximum). Not applicable for summer semester.
Renewable: Yes, must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA for up to four consecutive years.
Students seeking awards for art, dance, music or theatre arts should contact the specific academic department for eligibility criteria. Students interested in scholarship offerings based on academic major or artistic ability in the fine arts should consult the academic colleges. Criteria: Competitive merit award for a new student interested in majoring in engineering. High school seniors will compete based on their ACT or SAT scores. A minimum score of 24 ACT or 1090 SAT is required for eligibility.

Candidates must intend to major in communications or business management.
