When completing the MPN you will need to select a lender. Choosing a lender is an important decision, since you may be dealing with them for the life of your loan.

Borrowers frequently ask for help in selecting a reliable lender. We have collected information from each of our recommended lenders to assist you in your decision making process. Please take the time to read and evaluate each of the lenders borrower benefits. We are confident that you will receive efficient, dependable service from all of these lenders.

Step 1
After receiving your financial aid award letter, you can either accept or decline your entire loan award, or indicate the loan amount you wish to borrow. You must sign and return the award notice to the Financial Aid Office.

Step 2
After Cleveland State's Financial Aid Office has received your signed award letter, your loan information will be transmitted to your guarantor for processing. (View our list of preferred lenders.) Your Master Promisory Note should be signed online using your PIN. Your guarantor will also mail a preprinted Master Promisory Note to you or you may print out the promissory note and mail it to the guarantor. New borrowers must complete the Master Promisory Note and return it to your guarantor. After receiving your signed Master Promisory Note, the guarantor will complete the processing of your loan.

Complete your loan entrance counseling.

Step 4
Once your award letter has been processed and your Master Promisory Note and loan entrance counseling have been received, Cleveland State can disburse the loan into your Cleveland State student account. You may check your CampusNet account to see if your loan has disbursed. Cleveland State will issue you a check for any excess financial aid.

Note: Loan funds will not be disbursed until your guarantor has received a signed Master Promisory Note and your loan entrance counseling has been completed. Any missing or inaccurate data may delay processing.
