New freshmen are automatically considered for scholarships once admitted to Cleveland State University. In some cases, where indicated, individual scholarships will require a separate application. Recipients of scholarships listed below must be new, first-time (never before attended) Cleveland State University students, enrolled in a degree granting program and pursuing their first Bachelor’s Degree. All students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for full consideration of all types of financial aid.
Selection of scholarship recipients is made by the Scholarship Committee. Eligibility of scholarships for new freshmen is based on a number of criteria including high school GPA and standardized test scores. In certain instances, specific scholarships are awarded when a student meets the eligibility criteria as indicated by the donor of the scholarship. Cleveland State University reserves the right to alter scholarship eligibility criteria and award amounts based on available funding. Students will be notified by the University of any Scholarship Awards based on their meeting specific scholarship eligibility criteria at the time of admission.

Criteria: Merit award for full-time, new freshmen admitted to Cleveland State. Students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, minimum ACT composite score 23 or 1060 SAT total score (critical reading and math combined). Recipients must attend CSU full-time. Scholarship notification letters will be mailed to newly admitted students beginning November 1 and will continue to be mailed until February 1. A separate scholarship application is not required.
Amount of Award: $3000 per year for four consecutive years (8 semesters maximum).
Renewable: Must maintain minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactorily complete at least 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring).
Qualified students who are NOT residents of Ohio will be awarded the CSU Voyager Scholarship to help reduce out-of-state tuition costs for up to 16 credit hours per semester. Scholarship notification letters will be mailed to newly admitted students beginning November 1. Awards will continue until available funding is exhausted. A separate scholarship application is not required.
Criteria: Must be a non-resident of Ohio, new freshmen or students beginning classes Fall 2010 with no more than 30 credit hours, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and a minimum 21 ACT composite score or 980 SAT score (Critical Reading & Math). International students must meet the minimum equivalency of a 3.0 cumulative GPA, but are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Recipients must attend Cleveland State full-time.
Amount of Award: The difference in tuition charged to a non-resident of Ohio. (The amount for 2009-2010 was $2712).

Criteria: Awarded to two Cleveland Metropolitan School District high school seniors who plan to attend Cleveland State full-time and have a minimum 2.5 cumulative high school. A separate application is required.

Criteria: Competitive merit award to new students (50 new freshmen and 25 junior year college students). Freshmen students must have a minimum 30 ACT composite score, or 1300 or higher total SAT score (old test), 1950 or higher total SAT total score (new test), or be ranked in the top 10% of their high school class. Junior year college students with a minimum college cumulative GPA of 3.5 who have taken a rigorous curriculum including in the major will be considered. A separate application is required to apply the Honors Program.

Criteria: Graduating high school seniors or current CSU students interested in pursuing bachelor's degrees in Business, Engineering or Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Students must demonstrate the ability to perform college level course work. Selection of program participants is based on high school performance, college entrance examination scores (ACT/SAT), counselor/teacher recommendations, and evaluation of the LINK application. A separate application is required.
