Specialties, Courses Taught:
Gary Dyer has taught over twenty distinct courses in literature, working with students at every level, undergraduate or graduate: introductions to literature, Shakespeare, satire, "The Literature and Politics of Paranoia," both halves of the British literature survey, period courses covering British writing from 1660 to the present, and a course on the early American novel, as well as his primary field, the British Romantic period.

- ENG 334: Studies in Nineteenth-Century British Literature (Literature of British Imperialism: The Other Without, The Other Within). Spring 2000.
Educational Background:
A native of Narberth, PA, he received his B.A. (1985) from Villanova University and his M.A. (1987) and Ph.D. (1992) from the University of Pennsylvania.
Professional Background:
He has taught at Villanova, Penn, the University of North Florida, the University of Connecticut, Idaho State University, and Brandeis University.
Gary Dyer joined the Cleveland State English department in 1999.
Awards, Grants, Publications:
In 1992-93 he held a Charles Phelps Taft Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, and he has received grants to do research at the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Ransom Humanities Center of the University of Texas at Austin.
His first book, British Satire and the Politics of Style, 1789-1832 , was published by Cambridge University Press in 1997. His published articles deal with Scott, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Nabokov, Thomas Love Peacock, and representations of women's charity bazaars in nineteenth-century Britain.
He is currently working on a book provisionally titled The Sexual Economy of Chivalry in the Romantic Period.
