Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS)

Washkewicz College of Engineering

Cleveland State University (CSU)

Cleveland, OH 44115, USA

The EECS department at CSU has recently received multiple grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), to the tune of $2.5 Million. We are actively seeking high quality applicants to our doctoral program; a number of the students admitted in Fall 2014 will be supported to work on these recently awarded projects. The details of the projects can be found at https://www.csuohio.edu/engineering/eecs/research-10. Qualified candidates who are interested in working on the projects in other areas such as computational intelligence, control systems, power systems, communications, and computer network (other than the NSF granted projects) in EECS department are also encouraged to apply for the doctoral program at the Washkewicz College of Engineering. Please check EECS's website http://www.csuohio.edu/engineering/eecs/ to find professors' research areas. A doctoral student's stipend is commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience (usually in the range of $16,000 - $20,000 per year).

Minimum requirements for doctoral candidates/applicants:

The applicant should hold a bachelor's or master's degree with at least one degree in engineering. In exceptional cases, applicants may be considered without an engineering degree if they have a strong foundation in calculus, physics, and chemistry or biology, before entering the program. Minimum grade-point averages of 3.00 for bachelor's and 3.25 for master's level are required.

The GRE General section is required of all applicants. Minimum scores at the 80th percentile on the Quantitative section and 3.5 on the Analytical Writing section are usually required depending on the specialization area.

International students are required to pass an English Language Proficiency Examination, which is administered by the University Testing Center.
