New Dean of the Cleveland State University Fenn College of Engineering Announced
Dr. Bahman Ghorashi was named Dean of the Fenn College of Engineering on January 9, 2009 by the Cleveland State University Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of Provost Mary Jane Saunders and President Michael Schwartz. Dean Ghorashi received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University. He joined Cleveland State University in 1978 where he is currently Interim Dean of Engineering and a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Ghorashi is also Director of Fenn Academy, a consortium of northeast Ohio school districts, corporations and Cleveland State University . He has held several administrative positions at CSU including Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Assistant Dean of Research, Interim Chairman of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Department, Director of Doctor of Engineering Program, and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Chemical Engineering
Dean Ghorashi has over seventy publications based on his research in management of technology and agile manufacturing, fluid mechanics, mixing and non-Newtonian fluid flow. Over forty masters, doctoral and post-doctoral students have worked under Professor Ghorashi's supervision.Provost Saunders says about the appointment: “Dr. Ghorashi is a visionary leader, renowned researcher and talented administrator with proven commitment and dedication to our students. I am very pleased that he has accepted this appointment and look forward to working with Dean Ghorashi to make our Fenn College of Engineering an even more positive and supportive engaged learning environment for our students.”
